Patna : World No 1 Novak Djokovic, Serbia, World No 2 Rafael Nadal, Spain, and World No 14 Daniil Medvedev, Russia, entered the quarter-finals of Monte-Carlo Masters, Monaco, on April 18, 2019, winning their respective 3rd round matches.

Djokovic, a two-time former champion here, brushed asideĀ  World No 65 Taylor Fritz, 21, USA, 6-3, 6-0 in just 68 minutes in the 3rd round at Monte-Carlo Country Club, Monaco. Djokovic broke Fritz’ service 6 times in the match while the latter broke his service only once. Djokovic also won 7 games in a row in the match. Djokovic served 3 Aces in the match to 2 by Fritz.

Nadal, 11 time winner of Monte-Carlo Masters title, raced past World No 28 Grigor Dimitrov, 27, Bulgaria, 6-4, 6-1 in the 3rd round in 1hr 34 minutes. Nadal broke Dimitrov’s service 4 times in the match while the latter broke his service only once. Nadal won 5 games in a row to 3 by Dimitrov. But, Nadal was far from being his best in the match and hardly dominated the proceedings committing several enforced errors. Dimitrov served 3 Aces in the match to 1 by Nadal.

Medvedev upset World No 8 Stefanos Tsitsipas, 20, Greece, 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 in 1 hr 45 minutes in the 3rd round. Medvedev broke Tsitsipas’ service 4 times while the latter broke his service thrice. Both the players won 5 games each in a row in the match. Both the players 2 Aces each during the match. Medvedev will face Djokovic in the QFs on April 19.

World No 96 Lorenzo Sonego, 23, Italy, defeated World No 56 Cameron Norrie, 23, UK, 6-2, 7-5 in the 3rd round to advanced to the QFs. Sonego broke Norrie’s service 4 times in the match while the latter broke his service only once. Sonego won 4 games in a row in the match to 2 by Norrie.
