Patna : World No 1 Novak Djokovic, 34, Serbia, who is gunning for a Calendar Slam and record 21st Grand Slam singles title, and World No 2 Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, who is bidding for his first Grand Slam title, will clash in the US Open men’s singles final at New York, USA, on September 13, 2021, early morning.
Top seed Djokovic defeated World No 4 & 4th seed Alexander Zverev, 24, Germany, the Tokyo Olympics Gold Medallist, in a five-set marathon 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 lasting almost 4 hours in semi-final on September 11, 2021, early morning, on Arthur Ashe Stadium, New York, rallying back from one set down.
Djokovic, who had lost to Zverev in Tokyo Olympics semi-final, won 6 break points during the match to 3 by the German. He also won 5 games in a row to 3 by Zverev.
