Patna : Top seed and eight-time champion Novak Djokovic, 33, Serbia, reached semi-finals of Australian Open (AO) 2021 beating 6th seed Alexander Zverev, 23, Germany, in a four-set battle in quarter-finals at Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne Park, Australia, on February 16, 2021. Two of the four-sets went to tie-break with both the players winning one each. Djokovic will face qualifier Aslan Karatsev, 27, Russia, in SFs on February 18, 2021.
Defending champion Djokovic defeated Zverev 6-7, 6-2, 6-4, 7-6 in QFs rallying back from one set down. Zverev though gave Djokovic a run for his money. The Serbian hammered 23 Aces in the match to 21 by the German.
Both the players committed r double faults each. But, Djokovic won 6 break points during the match to 3 by Zverev. The Serbian won 5 games in a row during the match to 3 by the German. Djokovic, in all, won 149 points in the match to 139 points by Zverev.
