Patna : World No 1 and top seed Novak Djokovic, Serbia, beat World No 5 Dominic Thiem, 25, Austria, in tough contest lasting 2hr and 2 minutes in the semi-finals to reach the final of Madrid Open, Madrid, on May 11, 2019, night. Two-time champion Novak Djokovic, 31, winner of 15 Grand Slam singles title, beat Thiem 7-6, 7-6 in the semi-finals.
Both the players traded service breaks thrice each in the match. Both of them also won 3 games each in a row in the match.
