Patna : Top seed and World No 1 Novak Djokovic, 33, Serbia, defeated unseeded Casper Ruud, 21,Norway, in straight sets 7-5, 6-3 in semi finals at Foro Italico, Rome, Italy, on September 20, 2020, night, to reach the final at Italian Open. Djokovic will face the winner of the second semi-finals between 8th seed Diego Schwartzman, 28, Argentina, and 12th seed Denis Shapovalov, 21, Canada, in the final.
Four time champion Djokovic, the winner of 17 Grand Slam titles, hammered 12 Aces in the match to just 2 by Ruud. The Serbian, in all, won 89 points in the match to 74 by the Norwegian. Djokovic won 3 break points to 1 by Ruud. He won 5 games in a row too in the match to 3 by the Norwegian. Djokovic’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve (71% & 62 %) was much better than that Ruud’s ( 61% & 50%).
