Patna : In an important  clash of two tennis titans, World No 1 & top seed Novak Djokovic, 34, Serbia, defeated World No 3 & thirteen-time champion Rafael Nadal, 35, Spain, in a four-sets in men’s singles semi-final on June 11, 2021, late night, to reach the final of French Open. It was the 58th meeting between Djokovic and Nadal and the former now leads 30-28 Head to Head. But, Nadal leads Djokovic 7-2 at French Open. It was Nadal’s first defeat in 14 SFs at French Open.

Djokovic, the winner of 18 Grand Slam singles titles, beat 3rd seed Nadal, the winner of record equalling 20  Grand Slam singles titles, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6, 6-2 on court Philippe-Chatrier, Stade Roland Garros, Paris, France, rallying back from one set down. Djokovic will face 5th seed Stefanos Tsitsipas, 22, Greece, in final on June 13, 2021. Nadal said Djokovic deserved to win.

Djokovic, the 2016 champion here,  won 142 points during the match to 124 by Nadal. The Spaniard committed 8 double faults in the match to 3 by the Serbian. Both the players fired 6 Aces each during the match. Djokovic though won 8 braek points during the match to 6 by Nadal. He also won 6 games in a row in the match to 5 by Nadal. Nadal had defeated Djokovic in 2020 French Open final. The Spaniard had also defeated Djokovic in Italian Open final recently.
