Patna : Top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic, 32, Serbia, beat eight time champion and 2nd seed Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, in a titanic five-set battle at the Centre Court of All England Club, London, to win the Wimbledon men’s singles title for the the 5th time in his career. It was also his 16th Grand Slam singles title. The match went to the wire. Djokovic finally beat Federer 7-6, 1-8, 7-6, 4-6, 13-12. Federer had his chances in the 5th set but failed to convert them.
