Patna : Top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic, 34, Serbia, beat 7th seed Matteo Berrettini, 25, Italy, in a tough contest in four-sets in men’s singles final on Centre Court, All England Club, London, UK, on July 11, 2021, night, to lift his 6th Wimbledon title and the record equalling 20th Grand Slam singles title.  Roger Federer, Switzerland, and Rafael Nadal, Spain, already won 20 Grand Salm singles titles each. Djokovic has won Australian Open, French Open, and Wimbledon singles titles in 2021 and is aiming for the Calender Slam by winning the US Open too.

Djokovic beat Berrettini, the first Italian to reach the Wimbledon final, 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3 coming from behind overcomng 20 Qces hammered by the Italian. Djokovic fired only 6 Aces during the match. The Serbian World No 1 won 6 break points during the match to 2 by Berrettini. Djokovic committed 4 double faults to 3 by the Italian. Djokovic, in all, won 145 points during the match to 131 by Berrettini. He won 24 games in the match to 18 by Berrettini. Djokovic also won 4 games in a row during the match to 3 by the Italian, who gave him a run for his money during the match. Berrettini won 93 service points to 84 by Djokovic.

Berrettini will move up in the ladder in the ATP Rankings by reaching the final. He had also won  Queen’s Club title in June 2021.
