Patna : Laslo Djere, 23, Serbia, beat teenage sensation Felix Augur-Aliassime, Canada, in straight sets in the final to win the Rio Open, an ATP World Tour 500 points tournament played on clay courts, title at Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, in the early hours on February 25, 2019. Djere beat Aliassime 6-3, 7-5 in 2 hours to win his first ATP title. Both players were playing their first ATP World Tour final.

Djere has jumped 53 places in the ATP rankings, released on February 25, and is ranked World No 37 with 1,127 points. Aliassime, 18, the youngest finalist in an ATP World Tour 500 points tournament, has also jumped 44 places in the ATP rankings to be ranked World No 60 with 834 points.

Djere broke Aliassime’s service 6 times in the match while the latter broke his service thrice. Djere’s winning percentage both on his first and second serve ( 61% & 63 %) was better than that of Aliassime (57% & 53 %). Djere won three games in a row in the match to 2 by Aliassime.
