Patna : Bihar legislative assembly plunged into turmoil on the third day of the Budget session on February 28, 2018, over the Muzaffarpur incident and the proceedings were adjourned soon after commencement till 2 pm.
The RJD MLAs rushed into the well as soon as Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary entered the House and raised slogans against the NDA government over the incident in which nine school students were crushed to death and several others injured by a Bolero allegedly driven by a district level BJP leader of Sitamarhi Manoj Baitha.
The RJD legislators kept raising slogans accusing the ruling coalition of having tried to shield the accused, who surrendered before police on February 28, and demanded an apology from CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Sushil Kumar Modi.
Leader of opposition Tejashwi Yadav, talking to mediapersons outside the assembly, said, “Whatever we have been saying about the Muzaffarpur incident is turning out to be true. We have been stating from the very beginning that the accused is a BJP leader. The BJP denied it and later admitted our charge and suspended him from the party. Even the suspension was an eyewash.”
Manoj Baitha surrendered at the official residence of Muzaffarpur SSP Vivek Kumar.
