Patna : World No 28 Grigor Dimitrov, 30, Bulgaria, handed a shock defeat in a three-set thriller lasting 2hr 14 minutes to top seed & World No 2 Daniil Medvedev, 25, Russia, men’s singles Round of 16 of Indian Wells Masters at Indian Wells, California, USA, on October 14, 2021, to reach quarter-finals of the tournament.

23rd Seed Dimitrov, a former Top 10 player, beat Medvedev 4-6, 6-4, 6-1 rallying back from one set down in Round of  16. The Bulgarian won 6 break points during the match to 5 bythe the Russian.
