Delpo, McDonald, Albot enter QFs of ATP Delray Beach Open

Patna : World No 4 in ATP rankings and 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Porto, 30, Argentina, sailed into the quarter-finals of Delray  Beach Open, an ATP World Tour 250 points tournament played on hard court, at Delray Beach, Florida, USA, on February 22, 2019.

Delpo beat World No 56 Reilly Opelka, 21, USA, winner of ATP Ney York Open title recently, 6-4, 6-4 in the Round of 16 in 1 hr 13 minutes. Opelka, the tallest ATP ranked player at 6 ft 11 inches, though hammered 18 Aces to 5 by Delpo. Delpo broke Opelka’s service twice in the match. He also won 3 games in a row in the match.

World No 84 Mackenzie McDonald, 23, USA, also entered the QFs beating World No 101 Guillermo Garcia-Lopez, 35, Spain, 7-5, 6-4 in the Round of 16. McDonald broke Guillermo Garcia-Lopez’s service twice in the match. He fired 5 Aces in the match to 4 by his rival. McDonald also won 3 games in a row in the match. McDonald will face Delpo in the QFs on February 23.

World No 82 Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, defeated World No 64 Nick Kyegios, 23, Australia, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3 in the Round of 16 to enter the QFs. Kyrgios though hammered 19 Aces in the match to 6 by Albot. But he also committed 3 double faults to 1 by Albot. Albot broke Kyrgios’ service thrice. Kyrgios broke Albot’s service only once. Albot won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Kurgios. Albot will play World No 34 Steve Johnson, 29, USA, in the QFs on February 23.
