Sasaram: Dilly dallying attitude of the officials concerned of  Rohtas district to settle the land dispute is creating tension among the farmers as far as cultivation on disputed of plots goes. Though the Bihar government had ordered to settle all the land disputes before kharif season, dozens of cases of land dispute are still pending disposal at the office of the Sub-divisional officer SDO), Deputy Collector Land Reforms (DCLR) and the Circle Officers (COs).

With the start of transplantation season, people of the area are working in the field equipped with firearms fearing  some untoward incident. Dozens of cases of land dispute of Nonahar, Bahuara, Maidhar, Jonhi, Mani, Shivpur, Durgadih, and other villages of Bikramgfanj sub-division in Rohtas district are pending at the offices of the SDO, DCLR and CO. People are goining to the offices for the settlement of land disputes for months after giving application at RTPS counter but to no avail. They alleged moneys play vital role in settlement of land dispute. They said that the CO as was simply lingering the matter on one pretext or the other. Even mutation is not done on monetary consideration, they alleged.

CO Rajeev Ranjan said that not a single case of land dispute is pending at his office and refuted charges of taking money through middlemen for settling the dispute. He also said that he can’t settle any matter whether it is land dispute or mutation without going through the papers thoroughly.
