Patna : The Bihar flood have so far claimed 202 lives with 1,842 panchayats under 164 blocks in 18 districts reeling under it. The flood has affected around 1.21 crore people in the state. The death toll was 153 till August 18, 2017, but increased to 202 on August 19. Araria district in eastern Bihar alone accounts for 42 death followed by 31 in Sitamarhi and 29 in West Champaran district, according to Disaster Management Department.

Altogether 28 National Disaster Response Force teams comprising 1,152 personnel with 118 boats are involved in rescue and relief operations, a release from the state Disaster Management department said. Sixteen teamms of the State Disaster Response Force comprising 446 personnel are helping people in the flood-hit areas with 92 boats, it said, adding 2,228 Army personnel are assisting in relief and rescue operation with 280 boats.
