DC beat RR by 5 wickets in 53rd match of IPL-12

Patna : Delhi Capital (DCs) on May 4, 2019, defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by 5 wickets in the 53rd match of IPL-12 at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, with Rishabh Pant (wk) scoring an unbeaten 53 in 38 balls hitting 2 fours and 5 sixes. Replying to RR’s 115/9 in 20 overs, DC scored 121/5 in 16.1 overs. RR had won the toss and opted to bat.

DC have now 18 points from 14 matches while RR ended their campaign with 11 points in 14 matches. DC spinner Amit Mishra was named Player of the Match.

Batting first, RR lost their first wicket that of opener Ajinkya Rahane (captain) at 11. Rahane fell to fast bowler Ishant Sharma for 2. His opening partner Liam Livingstone also fell to Ishant Sharma for 14 when the score was 20. Sanju Samson (wk) was run out for 5. Riyan Parag, 17, fell to fast bowler Trent Boult for 50 in 49 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes.

For DC, Ishant Sharma took 3/38 in 4 overs while Trent Boult took 2/27 in 4 overs. Spinner Amit Mishra took 3/17 in 4 overs.

Chasing a target of 116, DC lost their first wicket that of opener Shikhar Dhawan when the score was 28. Dhawan fell to spinner Ish Sodhi for 16. His opening partner Prithvi Shaw also fell to Sodhi at the same score. Shaw scored 8 runs. Shreyas Iyer (captain) fell to spinner Shreyas Gopal for 15. Colin Ingram fell to Sodhi for 12 while Sherfane Rutherford fell to Gopal for 11.
