Patna : Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 6 wickets in the 55th match of IPL 2020 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi, UAE, on November 2, 2020, late night, with Ajinkya Rahane scoring 60 in 46 balls hitting 5 fours and 1 six and opener Shikhar Dhawan scoring 54 in 41 balls hitting 6 fours. Replying to RCB’s 152/7 in 20 overs, DC scored 154/4 in 19 overs. DC had won the toss and opted to bowl. Dhawan and Rahane added 88 runs for the 2nd wicket.
Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten on 10 with 1 six while Rishabh pant (wk) remained 8 not out hitting 1 four.. Opener Prithvi Shaw (9) flopped again. DC captain Shreyas Iyer scored 7 runs.
It was DC’s 8th win 14 matches and now have 16 points. They have secured 2nd position on points table and will meet MI in Qualifier 1. For RCB, it was their 7th defeat in 1r matches and they remain pegged at 14 points and qualified for the playoff .
Batting first, DC lost their 1st wicket that of Josh Philippe at 25. Philippe fell to fast bowler Kagiso Rabada. Captain Virat Kohli fell to spinner Ravichandran Ashwin for 29 in 24 balls hitting 2 fours and 1 six and it was 82/2. Kohli and opener Devdutta Padikkal added 57 runs for the 2nd wicket.
Padikkal fell to fast bowler Anrich Nortje for 50 in 41 balls with 5 fours, his 5th fifty in IPL 2020, and it was 112/3. Chris Morris fell to Nortje for zero and it was 112/4. Shivam Dube fell to Rabada for 17 in 11 bals with 2 fours and 1 six and it was 145/5. AB de Villiers (wk) was run out for 35 hitting 1 four and 2 sixes making it 146/6. Isuru Udana fell to Nortje for 4 making it 150/7.
Nortje, who bowled at a furious pace and took 3/33 in 4 overs, was named Player of The Match. Kagiso Rabada took 2/30 in 4 overs.
