Patna : Delhi Capitals (DC) beat Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) by 16 runs in the 46th match of IPL-12 at Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi, with opener Shikhar Dhawan scoring 50 in 37 balls hitting 5 fours and 2 sixes and captain Shreyas Iyer scoring 52 in 37 balls hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Caribbean Sherfane Rutherford, 20,  and Axar Patel remained on 28 and 16 runs respectively. Rutherford hit 1 four and 3 sixes in his 13 ball 28. Rishabh Pant (wk) scored 7 while Colin Ingram made 11.

This was DC’s 8th win in 12 matches and they now top the points table with 16 points and have qualified for the play-off with CSK while RCB are at the bottom with 8 points from 12 matches. Shikhar Dhawan was declared Player of the match.

Batting first after winning the toss, DC scored 187/5 in 20 overs. In reply,  RCB  could score 171/7 in 20 overs with opener Parthiv Patel scoring 39 in 20 balls hitting 7 fours and a six while captain Virat Kohli scored 23 in 17 balls with 2 fours and six. A B de Villiers fell to Rutherford for 17 in 19 balls with a six while Shivam Dubey fell to spinner Amit Mishra for 24 with 2 sixes. Heirich Klaasen also fell to Amit Mishra for 3 while Gurkeerat Singh Mann fell to fast bowler Ishant Sharma for 27 in 19 balls with 2 fours and a six. Marcus Stoinis remained unbeaten on 32 in 24 balls hitting 1 four and 2 sixes. Parthiv Patel and Kohli added 63 runs for the 1st wicket. For DC, Amit Mishra and fast bowler Kagiso Rabada took two wickets each Ishant Sharma and Axar Patel took one wicket each.
