Darbhanga : A police team constituted by SSP, Darbhanga, Manoj Kumar, has cracked the murder of a driver Chaitu Das and loot of Scorpio he was driving at Gaighat in Muzaffarpur district on May 28, 2018, night, by arresting 12 criminals involved in the incident. Police also recovered the looted Scorpio from village Munni Kalyani under Gaighat police station in Muzaffarpur during a raid conducted there.

Of the 12 criminals arrested by police in connection with murder of Chaitu Das and loot of Scorpio, three belong to Gaighat while 9 belong to Darbhanga district. Police arrested the 12 criminals by putting a particular mobile phone number on surveillance.

Darbhanga SSP Manoj Kumar said that Suraj Kumar Sahni of Beta, Darbhanga, had called vehicle owner Rahul Kumar of Beta on telephone on May 28, 2018, to book the Scorpio. On the direction of Rahul Kumar, driver Chaitu Das, a resident of Gorhiari Naya Tola under Bishanpur police station in Darbhanga district, left for Muzaffarpur with the passengers the same day.

On May 29, Chaitu Das’s body was found at Gaighat after which an FIR was lodged with Laheriasarai police station in Darbhanga district in this connection, according to SSP, Darbhanga, who immediately constituted a team headed by SDPO, Darbhanga, Anoj Kumar, and comprising SHO, Laheriasarai police station, R K Sharma, and Incharge, Beta Police Outpost, to probe into the incident. Police first arrested Suraj Kumar Sahni, who had booked the Scorpio, and on his revelation arrested the remaining 11 criminals, SSP Manoj Kumar said.  Police also seized 12 mobile phone from the possession of the arrested criminals.

SSP Kumar announced a reward of Rs 25,000 to the police team for cracking the case.
