New Delhi : The cyclonic storm ‘MORA’ over East Central Bay of Bengal moved northward during past six hours at a speed of 11 kmph and lay centred over East Central Bay of Bengal near Latitude 17.3ºN and Longitude 91.3ºE, about 660 km south-southeast of Kolkata and 550 km south-southwest of Chittagong at 8.30 am on May 29, 2017.

The system is likely to intensify further into a severe cyclonic storm during next 12 hours. It is very likely to move north-northeastwards and cross Bangladesh coast between longitude 91.0ºE and 92.0ºE near Chittagong around May 30, 2017, forenoon. Rainfall is likely at many places on May 29.

Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over Assam & Meghalaya is likely on May 30. Rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places very likely over Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh. On May 31, 2017, rainfall at most places with heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely over Assam & Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh, according to a PIB release.
