Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 7 wickets in 23rd match of IPL 2021 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi, on April 28, 2021, late night, to register their 5th win in six games. Set a target of 172, CSK scored 173/3 in 18.3 overs with opener Ruturaj Gaikwad scoring 75 in 44 balls hitting 12 while his opening partner Faf du Plessis scored 56 in 38 balls with 6 fours and 1 six. Both fell to leg spinner Rashid Khan. Gaikwad and du PlessisĀ  added 129 runs for the first wicket. Gaikwad was named Player Of The Match.

SRH had won the won toss and opted to bat. Batting first, SRH had scored a competitive 171/3 in 20 overs with captain David Warner (opener) scoring 57 in 55 balls with 3 fours and 2 sixes while Manish Pandey scored 61 in 46 balls with 5 fours and 1 six. Warner fell to fast bowler Lungi Ngidi while Pandey fell to fast bowler Sam Curran. Kane Williamson scored an unbeaten 26 in 10 balls with 4 fours and 1 six. Kedar Jadhav remained 12 not out in 4 balls with 1 four and 1 six.

It was SRH’s 5th defeat in 6 games and they have only 2 points while CSK top the points table with 10 points.
