Patna : Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 18 runs in the 15th match of IPL 2021 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on April 21, 2021, late night, as opener Faf du Plessis scored an unbeaten 95 in 60 balls hitting 9 fours and 4 sixes and his opening partner Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 64 in 42 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes. KKR had won the toss but opted to bowl. Batting first, CSK made 220/3 in 20 overs as Du Plessis and Gaikwad added 115 runs for the first wicket in 12.2 overs. Moeen Ali scored 25 runs.
In reply, KKR were all out for 202 in 19.1 overs with fast bowler Pat Cummins scoring an explosive 66 in only 34 balls hitting 4 fours and 6 sixes while Andre Russel scored 54 in 22 balls with 3 fours and 6 sixes. Dinesh Karthik (wk) scored 40 in 24 balls hitting 4 fours and 2 sixes. Captain Eoin Morgan fell to pacer Deepak Chahar for 7 continuing his flow show. Deepak Chahar took 4/29 in 4 overs while Lungi Ngidi took 3/28 in 4 overs.
