Patna: Following reports of arrests of army officers and jawans at different places including railway stations in Bihar, the Canteen Service Directorate(CSD) of Army has sent advisory notes to different commands and units of the forces requesting them to advise serving and retired officers and jawans against carrying liquor with them during their journey to or through Bihar.
The CSD said total prohibition has been imposed in Bihar and there had been cases of men of the armed forces being arrested and sent to jails for travelling with liquor bottles. Advisory notes have been sent to the IAF, Navy, Ordinance factories, Coast Guards, Assam Rifles warning the officers and men that carrying liquor while passing through Bihar may land them in jail.

Armymen get liquor at subsidised rates at the CSDs at different units. The Government Railway police (GRP) arrested army officers and jawans at different stations including Jehanabad, Bakhtiarpur and Hajipur stations recently as they were found travelling with liquor bottles.
