Saharsa : Unidentified criminals on February 16 looted Rs 20,000 from Mohammad Hasim of village Utesra under Salkhua police station (PS) when he was purchasing medicine at a medicine shop at Block Chowk under Simri Bakhtiarpur police station in Saharsa district and escaped.

On the basis of information given by Hasim, police sealed several places in the areas and took a youth into their custody and interrogating him, said SHO, Simri Bhaktiarpur PS Umashankar Kamat. Mohammad Hasim told police that he had drawn Rs 20,000 from SBI main branch and was purchasing medicine for an ailing kin when the criminals pounced on him and looted the cash. As a result, Hasim could not purchase the medicine.
