Giridih: Three motorcycle borne assailants on Saturday evening shot at a staff of liquor dealer and looted about Rs 12 lakh from his possession at Bhabhantoli locality under town police station in Giridih. Rajkumar Gupta sustained bullet injuries on his right thigh and taken to Giridih Sadar hospital. His condition is said to be normal by the police. 

The incident took place when the 42 year old staff of Mitthu Sao, a wholesaler of a wine, was in his way to hand over the amount at the proprietor’s home located just about 20 – 25 metres away from the godown cum wine shop. Three armed miscreants on a motorbike, who were waiting near the shop, attacked him from behind and snatched the bag containing cash. According to the eyewitnesses, the miscreants fired thrice bullets on Gupta. “While two of the three bullets missed the target the third one hit  Gupta’s thigh,” an eyewitness said.

“The staff of the wine shop had left his work place to hand over the day’s collections, which was about Rs 12 lakh, to the proprietor, who lived just about 20 – 25 metre away from shop. The miscreants came from behind and snatched the cash bag from Gupta after knocking him down on the ground. When Gupta resisted, the miscreants shot at him,” said DSP Vijay A Kujur, who along with DSP SK Singh and other police officials, visited the place of occurrence.

“Although few of the suspects have been detained for investigation,  we are yet to get specific inputs in this regard,” Kujur said, adding that the district police have launched massive manhunt and search operations to nab the culprits.
