Buxar: Criminals have demanded Rs 28 lakh ‘rangdari’ (extortion) from a BJP leader Pradeep Dubey threatening him with dire consequences if he fails to pay the amount. The matter came to light on Tuesday when Pradeep Dubey informed the mediapersons it about from Varanasi.

Pradeep Dubey said that a postman delivered a letter to his elder brother at his residence at Nehru Nagar under Buxar Town police station on October 29. A Dipawali wish was written on the envelope. When the family members opened the letter and read it, they were frightened. The letter was sent by one Laxman Pathak alias Bikku Bhai of Jaso village, a member of Panther Gang, who demanded Rs 28 lakh rangadari from Pradeep Dubey. Pradeep Dubey said that as he was at Varanasi at present, he informed the SP on telephone. SHO, Town police station, Raghubar Dayal said that police were looking into the affair but said no FIR has been lodged with the policed so far in this regard.
