Patna : Six armed criminals attacked a jewellery shop ‘Nanhe Jewellers & Bartan Bhandaar’ located at Shyam Market under Mufassil police station in Siwan district on July 8 afternoon to loot jewellery and cash. They fired on jewellery shop owner Ajay Verma, 60. The bullet hit Verma’s right hand finger.
Hearing the gunshots, a mob gathered outside the shop and caught two of the 6 criminals when they were fleeing and lynched one of them to death and seriously injured the other. The injured criminal was admitted to Siwan Sadar Hospital.
Confirming of the attack on jewellery shop, Siwan SP Navin Chandra Jha, a 2009 batch IPS officer, said that the criminals could not succeed in their loot bid. He said that identity of the criminal lynched by the mob is yet to be established.
