Patna : COVID-19 cases surged to 79,720 in Bihar with 3,934 more persons including a record 781 in Patna, 244 in Begusarai, 177 in Katihar, 162 in East Champaran, 160 in Saran, 146 in Samastipur, 132 in Vaishali, 131 in Rohtas, 128 in Muzaffarpur, 115 in Gopalganj, 109 in Bhojpur, 108 in Saharsa, 108 in West Champaran, and 103 in Nalanda testing positive to it on August 8, 2020.

According to State Health Department sources, 97 persons in Bhagalpur, 94 person in Araria, 93 in Munger, 89 in Madhubani, 83 in Gaya, 76 in Purnia, 70 in Sheikhpura, 65 in Buxar, 55 in Jamui, 52 in Aurangabad, 52 in Lakhisarai, 51 in Siwan, and 48 in Madhepura,  also tested positive to COVID-19 on August 8, 2020.with the recovery rate being 64.37 %.

Altogether 51,315 COVID patients have been declared cured in the state till date with the recovery rate being 64.37 %.. A total of 2,642 patients were declared cured during last 24 hours.

COVID-19 death toll in Bihar, on the other hand, has climbed to 429 with 10 new deaths being reported from different parts of the state during last 24 hours including four from Patna, two from Bhagalpur, one each Nalanda, Munger, and East Champaran. The COVID death toll has jumped to 81 in Patna, 36 in Bhagalpur, 28 in Gaya, 23 in Rohtas, 22 in Nalanda, 20 in Munger, and 16 each in Muzaffarpur and East Champaran.
