Patna : COVID-19 cases rose to 1,17,671 in Bihar on August 21, 2020, as 2,461 more persons including 308 from Patna, 161 from Muzaffarpur, 139 from East Champaran, 134 from Madhubani, 116 from Araria, 103 from Saran, 103 from Katihar, and 103 from Nalanda, tested positive to it on August 20, 2020.

According to State Health Department Sources, 99 persons from Begusarai, 96 from Purnia,96 from Purnia, 79 from West Champaran, 75 from Saharsa, 70 from Bhagalpur, 68 from Gopalganj, and 64 from Gaya  also tested COVID positive on August 20, 2020.

Of the 1,17,671 COVID cases in in Bihar, 91,841 patients have been declared cured including 3,678 during last 24 hours with the recovery rate being 78.05%. The number of active cases in the state was 25,241 on August 21, 2020. A total of 22,28,516 COVID samples have been tested in the state till date.

The COVID-19 death toll in Bihar, on the other hand, jumped to 588 on August 21, 2020, with 14 new deaths being reported from different parts of the state during last 24 hours including six from Saran, four from Begusarai, two from Gaya, and one each from Khagaria and Madhubani. The COVID toll has climbed to 116 in Patna.
