Patna : COVID -19 cases rose to 1,09,875 in Bihar on August 18, 2020, with 3,257 more persons including 368 from Patna, 234 from Madhubani, 200 from East Champaran, 185 from Bhagalpur, 164 from Begusarai, 153 from Saran, 139 from Purnia, 136 from Aurangabad, 135 from Muzaffarpur, and 116 from Saharsa, testing positive to it on August 17, 2020.

According to State Health Department Sources, 97 persons from Araria, 96 from Katihar, 94 from Nalanda, 94 from Sitamarhi, 81 from West Champaran, 71 from Buxar, 67 from Rohtas, 66 from Bhojpur, 64 from Gaya, and 61 from Gopalganj, also tested positive to COVID on August 17, 2020.

A total of 80,740 COVID patients have been declared cured in Bihar till date including 4,034 during last 24 hours with the recovery rate being 73.48 %. Altogether 18,99,970 COVID samples have been tested in the state till date including 1,12,781 on August 17, 2020.

The COVID death toll in Bihar jumped to 558 on August 18, 2020, afternoon, with 16 new deaths being reported from different parts of the state during last 24 hours including three from Patna, two from Munger, two from East Champaran, two from Nalanda, one each from Araria, Madhepura, Gaya, Bhojpur, West Champaran, Muzaffarpur, and Madhepura.

The COVID death toll has climbed to 107 in Patna, 41 in Bhagalpur, 39 in Gaya,  28 each in Rohtas and Munger, 25 in Nalanda, and 21 in Bhojpur. Bihar Government has extended the lockdown till September 6, 2020.
