Patna : COVID-19 cases surged to 71,794 in Bihar on August 7, 2020, with 3,646 more persons including 566 from Patna, 211 from Katihar, 188 from East Champaran, 162 from Nalanda, 128 from Banka, 125 from Vaishali, 124 from Bhagalpur, 118 from West Champaran, 113 from Sitamarhi, 114 from Rohtas, 109 from Muzaffarpur, 105 from Samastipur, and 104 from Purnia testing positive to it on August 6, 2020.
According to State Health Department sources, 96 persons from Begusarai, 90 from Gopalganj, 88 from Buxar, 87 from Gaya, 87 from Madhubani, 86 from Sheikhpura, 82 from Araria, 81 from Saharsa, 75 from Bhojpur, 75 from Saran, 75 from Supaul, 60 from Siwan, 53 from Jehanabad also tested positive to COVID-19 on August 6, 2020.
On the positive side, 46,265 COVID patients have been declared cured in the state till date with the recovery rate being 64.44 %. A total of 2,445 patients were declared cured during last 24 hours. Altogether 8,70,852 COVID samples have been tested in Bihar till date.
COVID-19 death toll, on the other hand, jumped to 400 in Bihar on August 7, 2020, afternoon, with 12 new deaths being reported from different parts of the state during last 24 hours including four from Patna, two from Vaishali, one each from Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Munger, Nawada, Saran, and East Champaran.
The COVID death toll climbed to 71 in Patna, 34 in Bhagalpur, 26 in Gaya, 23 in Rohtas, 20 in Nalanda, 19 in Munger, 15 in Bhojpur, 15 in Muzaffarpur, and 14 in East Champaran. A Katihar doctor D N Poddar died due to COVID-19 on August 7, 2020. With this, 18 doctors have died due to COVID-19 in Bihar till date.
