New Delhi : COVID-19 death toll shot up to 640 in India at 8 am on April 22, 2020, with 37 new deaths being reported since the last update by Union H&FW Ministry on April 21, 2020, evening. But, the Silver lining is that number of cured/discharged patients has jumped to 3,869 in the country including 722 in Maharashtra, 635 in Tamilnadu, 611 in Delhi, 307 in Kerala, 230 in Rajasthan, 194 in Telangana, 148 in MP, 139 in Gujarat, 129 in Karnataka, and 127 in Haryana. The number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 15,474.

Among the States/UTs, Maharshtra accounts for 251 Coronavirus deaths followed by Gujarat with 90 deaths. Madhya Pradesh (MP) has reported 76 COVID-19 deaths so far while Delhi has reported 47 deaths. Coronavirus death toll has reached 22 in Andhra Pradesh, 23 in Telangana, 20 in UP, 17 in Karnataka, 25 in Rajasthan, 18 in Tamilnadu, 16 in Punjab, 15 in West Bengal,5 in J&K, 3 each in Jharkhand, Haryana and Kerala, 2 in Bihar.

Bihar has reported 126 Coronavirus confirmed cases so far while Jharkhand has 45 such cases. Maharashtra has reported 5,218 Coronavirus confirmed cases while Gujarat has reported 2,178 and Delhi 2,156 confirmed cases so far. J&K has reported 380 COVID-19 confirmed cases while MP has reported 1,552, Rajasthan 1,659, Tamilnadu 1,596, and UP 1,294 confirmed cases so far.
