New Delhi : Coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll reached 437 in India at 8 am on April 17, 2020, with 17 new deaths reported since the last update issued by Union Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Ministry on April 16 evening. The number of Coronavirus active cases in India has increased to 11,201.
But, the most significant development is the rapid increase in the number of patients cured/discharged which has increased to 1,748 in the country including 295 in Maharashtra, 218 in Kerala, 147 in Rajasthan, 120 in Telangana, 118 in Tamilnadu, 82 in Karnataka, 68 in UP, and 64 in Gujarat.
Maharashtra has reported 2,919 Coronavirus confirmed cases so far while Delhi has reported 1,578 confirmed cases. Tamilnadu has reported 1,242 COVID-19 confirmed cases while Rajasthan has reported 1,023 such cases. UP has reported 773 Coronavirus confirmed cases while Bihar has reported 74 confirmed cases.
Among the States/UTs, Maharashtra accounts for 187 deaths due to Coronavirus while MP has reported 53 deaths due to the disease till date. Coronavirus death toll has increased to 36 in Gujarat, 32 in Delhi, 18 in Telangana, 14 each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamilnadu, 13 each in UP, Karnataka, and Punjab, and 7 in West Bengal. J&K has reported 4 COVID-19 deaths while Kerala and Haryana have reported 3 deaths each due to it.
Bihar, Odisha, Himachal Pradesh, Assam, and Meghalaya have reported 1 death each due to Coronavirus while Jharkhand has reported 2 deaths due to it.
