New Delhi : Coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll surged to 590 in India at 8 am on April 21, 2020, with 31 new deaths being recorded since the last update issued by Union H&FW Ministry on April 20, 2020, evening. In an important development, the number of Coronavirus patients cured/discharged after recovery has jumped to 3,251 in the country, an increase of 410 over the last update on April 20. The number of Coronavirus active cases is 14,759 in the country.

Among the States /UTs, Maharashtra has reported  232 deaths, MP 74,  Gujarat 71, Delhi 47, Rajasthan 25, Telangana 23, Andhra Pradesh 20, UP 18, Tamilnadu 17, Karnataka and Punjab 16 each, West Bengal 12, J&K 5,  and Haryana & Kerala 3 each. Meghalaya, Assam, Odisha, and Himachal Pradesh have reported one death each due to the disease,

Bihar and Jharkhand have reported 2 deaths each due to Coronavirus. Bihar has so far reported 113 confirmed cases of Coronavirus of which 42 were cured/discharged while Jharkhand has reported 46 confirmed cases. Nalanda District in Bihar reported 17 new confirmed cases including 16 from a doctor’s family on April 20, 2020. The Nalanda doctor had earlier detected COVId-19 positive.

Maharashtra has so far reported 4,666confirmed cases of Coronavirus followed by 2,081 in Delhi and 1,939 in Gujarat. MP has reported 1,485 COVID-19 confirmed cases, Rajasthan 1,576, Tamilnadu 1,520, UP 1,184, and Andhra Pradesh 722 cases.
