New Delhi : Coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll surged to 1,074 in India at 8 am on April 30, 2020, with 66 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country since the last update issued by Union H&FW Ministry on April 29, 2020, evening. On the positive side, the number of COVI-19 patients cured/discharged has also jumped to 8,324 in the country including 1,593 in Maharashtra, 1,210 in Tamilnadu, and 1,092 in Delhi, a very significant development. The number of COVID-19 active cases in India stands at 23,651.

In Maharashtra, 432 persons have died to Coronavirus while 197 persons have died due to this disease in Gujarat. COVID-19 death toll has reached 129 in MP, 56 in Delhi, 51 in Rajasthan. 39 in Uttar Pradesh, 31 in Andhra Pradesh, 27 in Tamilnadu, 26 in Telangana, 22 in West Bengal, 21 in Karnataka, 19 in Punjab, 8 in J&K, 4 in Kerala, 3 each in Haryana and jharkhand, 2 in Bihar, and 1 each in Odisha, Meghalaya, Himachal Pradesh, and Assam.

Union Health & Family Welfare Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan interacted with the Lions Club International members across the country through Video Conferencing (VC) here on April 29, 2020, and expressed his gratitude to the Lions Club members for contributing an amount of Rs 9.1 crore to the PM CARES fund and of Rs 12.5 crores to the various Chief Ministers Relief Funds. He also appreciated their contribution in the form of providing meals to millions, and much needed medical equipment and protective gear.

Dr Vardhan Minister stated that along with the States/UTs and the dedicated stakeholders and partners, India shall be able to emerge as a victorious in combating COVID-19.

Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal on April 29 called upon the exporters to identify their strengths, potentials and competitive advantages in specific sectors, and focus on harnessing them in the world markets. Goyal said that in the post-Covid era, there is going to be perceptible change in the global supply-chains, and Indian industrialists and exporters should be looking to capture significant share in the world trade. He assured them that the Government will be a pro-active supporter and facilitator in their efforts, and the Indian Missions abroad can play an important role in that. He said that incentives can be given, but they have to be justified, reasonable, and WTO-compliant, according to a PIB release.

The SHGs through the department of Rural Development, Punjab are producing Masks, Aprons and Gloves for the civil administration, police and also for the Panchayats. The Punjab government ITI students have brought pride to the state by topping in producing masks during the lockdown.
