New Delhi : Coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll jumped to 1,981 in India at 8 am on May 9, 2020, with 95 new deaths being reported from different parts of the country since the last update issued by Union H & FW Ministry on May 8, 2020. The COVI-19 death toll has crossed one hundred mark in five states : Maharashtra, Gujarat, MP, West Bengal, and Rajasthan.
The number of patients cure/discharged has climbed to 17,846 in the country from 16,539 on May 8, a significant development. The number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 39,834 in the country.
Coronavirus death toll break-up is : Maharashtra (731), Gujarat ( 449), Madhya Pradesh (200), West Bengal ( 160), Rajasthan (101), Delhi (68), UP (66), Andhra Pradesh (41), Tamil Nadu (40), Karnataka (30), Punjab (29), Telangana (29), J&K (9), Haryana (8), Bihar (5), Kerala (4), Jharkhand (3), Himachal Pradesh (2), Odisha (2), Meghalaya (1), Assam (1), Uttarakhand (1), and Chandigarh (1).
