New Delhi : novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) death toll climbed to 149 in India at 8 am on April 8, 2020, with 25 new deaths being reported since last update on April 7, 2020. In a significant development, the number of patients cured/discharged after recovery has also jumped to 401 in the country, according to Health & Family Welfare Ministry. The number of Coronavirus confirmed cases has increased to 4,643 in the country including 1,018 in Maharashtra, 690 in Tamilnadu, and 576 in Delhi. One patient has migrated.
Maharashtra has reported 64 deaths due to Coronavirus followed by Gujarat and MP with 13 deaths each. The death toll in Delhi is 9 while Telangana, Tamilnadu, and Punjab have reported 7 deaths each. West Bengal has recorded 5 deaths while Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh have reported 4 deaths each to COVID-19. Rajasthan, Haryana, and UP have reported 3 deaths each while J&K and Kerala have reported 2 deaths each. Bihar, Himachal Pradesh, and Odisha have reported one death each.
Meanwhile, Coronavirus confirmed cases has increased to 38 in Bihar with 6 more persons, four of them from the same family in Siwan District and two from Begusarai District in North Bihar, testing positive on April 7, 2020, according to Principal Secretary, Health Department, Bihar. The four persons testing positive in Siwan include mother and wife of a Coronavirus patient, who had returned from Middle East on March 21, 2020. and two more persons of the family. But, the number of active cases in Bihar, where one patient from Munger District died due to COVID-19, has dropped to 22 as 15 patients including six from Munger, 5 from Patna, and 4 from Siwan, have been discharged after recovery.
