Patna : The number of Coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed cases reached 228 in Bihar at 5 pm on April 25, 2020, while 46 patients have been cured/discharged in the state. The COVID-19 death toll remains two in Bihar and 3 in Jharkhand, which accounts for 59 confirmed cases.

Coronavirus affected districts in Bihar include Siwan (29 cases), Nalanda (28 cases), Munger (20), Begusarai (9), Patna (7), Gaya (5), Buxar (4), Gopalganj 3), Nawada (3(, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur, Lakhisarai, Nawada, Saran, and Vaishali, one each.

Union H&FW Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan on April 25, 2020, commended the dedication and hard work of all the stakeholders at all levels. He informed that in view of the urgent need for addressing the issues of stigma and discrimination of patients and also the healthcare workers combating COVID-19, an Ordinance for amendment of Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 was promulgated recently with very stringent provisions. “This is not only their fight, but our collective effort. They are our frontline warriors and as a nation, let us not only respect their contribution but ensure that their safety and dignity are protected,” Dr  Vardhan stated, according to a PIB release.
