Patna : Coronavirus (COVID-19) confirmed cases jumped to 2,345 in Bihar on May 23, 2020, evening, woth 82 more persons including 31 from Rohtas, 19 from Madhepura, nine from Darbhanga, six  from Banka, four from Madhubani, five from Supaul, three from Patna, and one each from Bhagalpur, and Aurangabad districts testing positive to the disease. With it, 179 persons tested positive to Coronavirus on May 23, 2020, in Bihar.

In Rohtas, 31 confirmed cases were reported from Sasaram. In Madhepura, 15 cases were reportedfrom Bihariganj, three from Uda Kishanganj, and one from Chausa. In Darbhanga, two cases each were reported from Darbhanga Sadar, Basotpur,  and Gaura Bauram, and one each from Dath, Jakauli, and Milkichak. In Banka,three cases were reported from Katoriya, two from Belhar, and one from Fullidumar.

In Patna, one case each was reported from Masaurhi, Naubatpur, and Bikram. In Madhubani, three cases were reported from Rajnagar and one from Benipatti. In Supaul, two cases were reported from Raghopur, and one each from Triveniganj, Basantpur, and Supaul Rural.

Meanwhile, Union Health Secretary along with senior officers of the Health Ministry held a high level review meeting with the Pr. Health Secretaries, Urban Development Secretaries, Municipal Commissioners, Mission Directors (NHM) and other officials from 11 municipal areas in the country which have high case load of Covid-19.

It was told that major challenge lies in those corporations having shorter doubling time, higher mortality rate and a higher confirmation rate than the national average.It was pointed out that testing needs to be stepped up in some municipal areas to ensure early detection of cases, timely clinical management, and a reduction in fatality rate.

So far, a total of 51,783 people have been cured. In the last 24 hours, 3,250 patients were cured. This takes the total recovery rate to 41.39%. The total number of confirmed cases in India now stands at 1,25,101. Since May 22, 2020,  an increase of 6,654 has been noted in the number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in India.
