Patna : World No 34 Pablo Carreno Busta, 28, Spain, upset World No 27 Denis Shapovalov, 20, Canada, in the first round of Erste BankOpen ( Vienna Open), an ATP 500 point event, at Vienna, Austria, on October 23, 2019.
Busta beat Shapovalov 6-3, 7-5 in the first round winning 2 break points in the match besides winning 3 games in a row. Shapovalov though fired 10 Aces in the match to 1 by Busta. Busta won 44 service points to 38 by Shapovalov, who had won ATP Stockholm Open title last week.
World No 57 Mikhail Kukushkin, 31, Kazakhstan, upset World N0 24 and 8th seed Borna Coric, 22, Croatia, in straight sets 6-4, 6-4 in first round in 81 minutes. Kukushkin won 3 break points in the match to 1 by Coric. He also won 4 games in a row in the match to 2 by Coric. Kukushkin won 41 service points in the match to 34 by the Croatian. Coric, however, fired 13 Aces in the match to 4 by Kukushkin.
World No 22 Andrey Rublev, 22, Russia, defeated World No 51 Alexander Bublik, 22, Kazakhstan, 6-1, 6-7, 7-6 to enter the 2nd round. Bublik though hammered 20 Aces in the match to just 2 by Rublev. The Russian though won 4 break points in the match to 1 by Bublik. TheRussian won 7 games in a row to 3 by Bublik.
