Ara : Police allegedly thrashed and injured a truck driver Sunil Kumar at Barhara police station in Bhojpur district on June 21, 2018, night, after he refused to grease their palm. Police allegedly also snatched Rs 30,000 from the truck driver. The injured truck driver was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital.

Truck driver Sunil Kumar Yadav, 26, son of late Bhola Yadav, on June 22, 2018, said at Ara Sadar Hospital that after unloading cement at Siwan, he was returning to Ara by his truck. When he reached near Barhara police station, police personnel demanded Rs 2,000 from him. On his refusal, they brought him over to the police station and thrashed him allegedly after asking about his caste. Sunil alleged that police personnel snatched Rs 30,000 from him and also threatened to put him behind bars after implicating him in false cases if he dared say anything to anyone about the incident.

SHO, Barhara police station, however, refuted all the charges and said no such incident had taken place under the jurisdiction of the police station.
