Ara : Although the new academic session in schools has begun, the teaching work remains paralysed as the contract teachers, under the banner of Bihar State Primary Teachers’ Association, locked all 1,908 Primary and Middle School buildings in Bhojpur district on April 20, 2017, to press their demands including `Equal Pay for Equal Work’ and regularisation of their services. There are 1,085 government Primary and 823 Middle schools in the district having 4, 87, 904 students. The contract teachers proceeded on an indefinite strike on April 20 itself to protest apathetic attitude of the state government towards their demands. The teachers said that their agitation would continue till their demands were conceded.
