Patna: Patna Police on Monday arrested one Gaurav Kumar and recovered a looted motorcycle from his possession within four hours of the incident.

Naveen Kumar, a resident of Hilsa in Nalanda district posted as constable (number-960) in Samastipur District, had been deployed under Malsalami police station in Patna for Prakashotasava. He was returning to Fatuha after completing his duty on December 25 night at around 10 pm on his Pulsar bike (B.R.1CD-9083). As he reached village Sukulpur on Bakhtiyarpur four-lane under Deedarganj police station, some criminals intercepted him and snatched his bike, cellphone and Rs 1,600 cash at pistol point. An FIR was later lodged with the police station concerned against two unknown persons on the statement of the constable.

Taking serious note of the incident, Patna Senior SP (SSP) Manu Maharaaj directed Fatuha SDPO to crack the case. The SDPO and Fatuha ps SHO carried out raids on the retreat route of the criminals. Taking help of technical and scientific investigation, police arrested one Gaurav Kumar from Khaspura Mor and recovered one country made pistol, four live cartridges, one iron hammer, one saw, a steel Tiffin, looted cash besides constable’s looted bike from his possession.

Acting on the revelations made by arrested Gaurav, police later raided the house of his other associate Mukesh Yadav, a native of village Sukulpur under Deedarganj police station in Patna, and recovered constable’s looted cellphone from there and also arrested him.
