Saharsa: A trainee Constable Santosh was shot at and injured by unidentified car borne borne criminals in broad daylight on April 2, 2020, when he was returning to Saharsa policeline from Indoor Stadium camp for lunch. Injured Santosh, who has been admitted to a private nursing home, Surya Hospital, Saharsa, in North Bihar, said that the criminals had come in a white Alto car around 11 am. The incident has triggered panic among Saharsa residents.
Sources said that the criminals had probably come to Saharsa Jail Gate carrying food for some inmate but were stopped at the barrier due to lockdown by the constable on duty after which they fired on Constable Santosh who was returning from Stadium.
DIG Suresh Prasad Chaudhary, however, attributed the incident to domestic dispute. Police are investigating into the incident. The broad daylight firing by the criminals at Saharsa, the district headquarters, speaks volume of the law and order in the district.
