Ranchi (Jharkhand) : Chief Pilot of an Air Asia flight 632 to Mumbai with 147 passengers on board was forced to apply emergency brakes at Birsa Munda Ranchi Airport on August 8, 2020, after the crew noticed fire in the right side of the engine when it was about to take off around 1 pm. No one was injured in this incident but it was a close save for them.
Eye witness stated that the plane, after taxing for half a kilometre on the runway, was about to take off when smoke followed by fire in the engine portion was noticed forcing the pilot to put emergency brakes.
Later all the passengers were asked to get down at the airport while technical experts were pressed into service to mend the snag.
Soon after coming to know about it, Ranchi SSP S K Jha and other officials rushed to the spot while fire tenders were pressed into service.
This incident took place at about 11.50 am. Airline sources said that it was a case of bird hit.
