Patna : Zonal IG, Patna,  N H Khan, who is monitoring the SIT investigation into leakage of question papers of clerical grade examination conducted by Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC), on February 24, 2017, claimed there were clinching evidences to suggest arrested BSSC Chairman Sudhir Kumar’s involvement in the leakage of questions. IAS Officers’ Association, Bihar Branch, has described Kumar while demanding his immediate release has described him as very honest and competent officer of Bihar cadre. RJD president Lalu Prasad too joined the protest by IAS association and claimed Sudhir Kumar was innocent.

Sudhir Kumar, his four family members were quizzed at Bihar Veterinary College guest  house by the SIT  led by Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj. The BSSC exam held on January 29 and February 5, 2017, has already been cancelled. Kumar was arrested from his ancestral home at Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, late February 23 night.

Alongwith Sudhir, his brother Professor Awadesh Kumar, a teacher at Patna Women’s College,  Awadhesh’s wife, nephew and daughter-in-law too have been arrested. His nephew and daughter in-law were examinees at BSSC conducted recruitment examinations and Prof Awadesh was an examiner.  Sudhir’s arrest followed the arrest of owner of a printing press at Ahmedabad, who is reported to have told SIT that questions were leaked out at the behest of the BSSC Chairman.

Both  BSSC chairman and owner of the press were confronted with each other by SIT here. Sudhir had earlier admitted he used to receive recommendations from ministers, legislators and senior bureaucrats. Secretary of the commission Parmeshwar Ram, who was arrested earlier, told police about examination racket and  involvement of seven ministers, 27 MLAs and nine IAS officers. So far, 30 people have been arrested for question leakage.  Commission had conducted examinations for recruitment of 13,500 government staff for which there were 18 lakh applicants.
