Ara : Floral tributes were paid to the father of nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th birth anniversary on October 2, 2019.  Cleanness drive were organized at Ara and many villages in Bhojpur district to mark the occasion. Prabhat Pheri was also  taken out by school children at different places in the district. Debate and drawing competitions were also organized.

Bhoupur DM Roushan Kushwaha, Civil Surgeon, Bhojpur, and others garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi on the campus of Ara Sadar Hospital. Speaking on the occasion, the DM said that Mahatma Gandhi succeeded in getting independence from the Britishers through non-violence method and never yielded before injustice and appealed the people to follow his footsteps for maintaining unity, integrity, and communal harmony in the country. Later, the DM awarded persons who excelled in ensuring cleanness drive in their respective areas making them ODF.

Gandhi Jayanti and the former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri’s Jayanti were also celebrated with zest at the office of Lok Jagriti Ara. Floral tributes were paid to the two great personalities and people garlanded their portraits.

Two plays on the evils of child marriage and benefits of cleanness were staged at Rajkiya Ambedkar Aawasiya Balika Uchch Vidyalaya, Ara, on the occassion. Kirti Prakash, Headmaster Incharge of the school, highlighted the evils of child marriage and exhorted the girl students to say no to early marriage. She said that the Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has launched campaign against child marriage, dowry, and liquor for the betterment of society especially girls and women who are the worst victim of such evils. Later at least a dozen sanitation workers were felicitated with the title ‘Safai ke Nayaks’.. The felicitation was part of ‘Swachhata Nayak Samman Samaroh’ by the students of the school.
