Patna : World No 4 in ATP rankings Marin Cilic, 29, Croatia, entered the third round of French Open 2018 defeating World No 188 Hubert Hurkacz, 21, Poland, in four sets 6-2, 6-2, 6-7, 7-5 on Phillippe Chatrier Court, Roland Garros, in the second round on May 31, 2018.

World No 64 Mischa Zverev, 30, Germany, also entered the 3rd round defeating World No 127 Sergiy Stakkovsky, 32, Ukraine, 6-3, 6-7, 7-6, 6-1, in the second round on Court 9 on May 31.

World No 32 Richard Gasquet, 31, France, defeated World No 63 Malek Jaziri, 34, Tunisia, 6-2, 3-6, 6-3, 6-0, to enter the third round of French Open.

World No 70 Maximilian Marterer, 22, German, upset World No 25 Denis Shapovalov, 19, Canada, 5-7, 7-6, 7-5, 6-4 in the second round to book a place in the 3rd round. Shapovalov fired 6 aces but also committed 11 double faults. Marterer fired 3 aces but committed only 4 double faults during the match. Shapovalov’s first serve percentage was 57 % compared to 68% of Marterer.

World No 7 Kevin Anderson, 32, South Africa, also entered the third round defeating World No 75 Pablo Cuevas, 32, Uruguay, 6-3, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4, in the second round on Court 7 on May 31. Anderson fired 21 aces in the match compared to 12 by Cuevas. Cuevas committed 5 double faults compared to 3 by Anderson.
