Ara : A child died in the womb of his mother at Sadar Hospital, Ara, on January 5, 2019, allegedly due to casual approach of the doctors and even efforts by Bhojpur District Magistrate to contact the doctors concerned went in vain.
Pooja Devi, 24, wife of Dinanath Tiwari of village Babhnauli under Ara Muffassil police station, was admitted to the Sadar Hospital on January 5 for delivery. She started having labour pain in the late evening but no doctor at the Sadar Hospital bothered to take care of her. In the meantime, someone informed the Bhojpur DM about the conduct of the doctors. The DM reportedly called at least 35 times but the doctors did not receive his call and the child died in the womb of Pooja Devi.
Dinanath Tiwari on January 6 said at the Sadar Hospital that when he brought his wife to the hospital, the doctor had examined her and found everything normal. The doctor also said that the delivery would be normal around 8pm. But after 10pm, the condition of the patient deteriorated and operation became inevitable but the anaesthetist was not available and the operation could not be performed and the child died in the womb.
Dr Prateek, Incharge Civil Surgeon, said that it is a matter of investigation as to how the child died in the womb. He also informed that even the DM tried to contact the doctors but in vain.
