Patna :  BJP member in Lok Sabha from Buxar constitutency Ashwini Kumarna Chaubey on December 15 demanded pension to the activists of JP movement at par with freedom fighters. He raised the issue in Lok Sabha on Thursday and suggested the activists should be given free travel and free medical facilities like the freedom fighters.
Chaubey,who was jailed during the JP led movement under MISA, said Morarji Desai government had declared the movement as Loktantra movement. Those involved  in the 1974-77 movement should be declared Loktantra Senanis, he demanded.

Chaubey who represented Bhagalpur assembly consttutency in Bihar assembly till he was elected to Lok Sabha in 2014, said emergency like situation prevails in Bhagalpur where poor and landless women were brutally assaulted by police at Bhagalpur collectorate on December 8.The women had gone to the collectorate to submit a memorandum to DM demanding allotment of  government land. They were chased and assaulted by police and local SDO, he claimed.The women were rushed to the hospital as they suffered serious injuries in police action.
