Patna : World No 182 Ramkumar Ramnathan, 25, India, lost to World No 98 Salvatore Caruso, 27, Italy, in the first round of Tata Open Maharashtra, Pune, India, an ATP 250 points event, in a three-set thriller on February 3, 2020, late night. Caruso beat Ramnathan 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 battling back from one set down.

Ramnathan hammered 17 Aces in the match to 5 by 7th seed Caruso. The Italian committed 6 double faults to 5 by the Indian. Salvatore, however, won 3 break points in the match to 2 by Ramnathan. Both the players won 3 games each in a row in the match. The Indian won 66 service points to 63 by the Italian.
